2010 Kia Sportage First EditionThe all-new Kia Sportage crossover, one of the stars of the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, is to go on sale in the UK earlier than expected, on 1 August, with a high specification Sportage First Edition version. The full line-up of the all-new Sportage, including two wheel drive, petrol and additional diesel versions, will go on sale in the UK from November, however early production of RHD all-wheel-drive 2.0-litre diesel models means that eager British customers will not have to wait long to get into Kia’s latest stunningly designed model.

The Sportage First Edition is a unique version that comes complete with all-wheel drive, a choice of manual or automatic transmissions and an efficient common-rail turbodiesel engine. The 2.0-litre CRDi engine emits just 156g/km CO2 and achieves a combined cycle economy of 47.1 mpg – an impressive 31g/km less and 7.3mpg more respectively than the outgoing model.

Available in a choice of five colours – including the striking Techno Orange – the First Edition comes as standard with a comprehensive high-end specification including a full leather interior, dual zone climate control, automatic rain-sensing wipers, LED daytime running lights and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Designed by Peter Schreyer to combine the stance and attitude of a compact SUV but with a sleek, urban design and have greener credentials, Kia’s all-new Sportage is designed to meet the requirements of young families – or the young at heart – who lead busy, primarily urban-centric, lifestyles. Final development of the Sportage’s chassis in the UK has ensured that the ride and handling are optimised for British road conditions.

2010 Hennessey Venom GTHennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) is pleased to introduce the first official images of its Venom GT supercar. Based upon the Lotus Elise, the Venom GT combines a high-tech, lightweight British chassis with a powerful American V8.

SOMETIMES LESS EQUALS MORE
In the case of the Venom GT, less weight means more performance. The Venom GT will have a production curb weight of less than 2,400 lbs (1,071 kilos) aided by its lightweight carbon fiber bodywork and carbon fiber wheels. Stopping power is delivered via Brembo brakes with 6-piston calipers up front and 4-piston calipers in rear clamping down on 15-inch carbon ceramic rotors.

SOMETIMES MORE EQUALS MORE
The Venom GT’s base power plant is the supercharged 6.2 liter LS9 V8 (the same as in the Corvette ZR1) tweaked by HPE to 725 bhp. The company will also be offering 1000 bhp and 1200 bhp twin turbo V8 engine variants. The mid-engine V8 will transmit its power to the rear tires via a Ricardo 6-speed gearbox.

POWER WITH CONTROL
Hennessey plans to manage power output by using a programmable traction control system. CFD (computational fluid dynamic) tested bodywork and down force will also help keep the Venom stable at speed. An active aero system with adjustable rear wing will deploy under varying conditions on both the road and racetrack. An adjustable suspension system will allow ride height adjustments according to speed and driving conditions. Finally, power will be put to the ground via massive Michelin PS2 tires at all four corners.

POWERED BY THE USA, BUILT IN THE UK
Hennessey will be building the power plants at its Texas facility. The engines will then be air freighted to the company’s assembly facility near Silverstone, England where the Venom GT is built and tested. Venom GT buyer will be offered a 1-day driver orientation and instruction program by a Hennessey factory test driver, at a track in the UK or USA prior to delivery.

LIMITED PRODUCTION
The company plans to establish a network of Venom GT dealers and distributors in the Middle East, Europe, Russia, Australia and Asia. Production is limited to just 10 vehicles per year and the company already has orders for 4 Venom GT’s.

2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe
Cadillac’s Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant has begun production of the 2011 CTS Coupe and started shipping models to U.S. dealerships ahead of schedule. The all-new CTS Coupe has a starting price, including destination charges, of $38,990.

The CTS Coupe joins the CTS Sport Sedan and CTS Sport Wagon, an award-winning line that has been named to Car and Driver’s 10 Best list for three straight years. All three CTS models and the Cadillac STS sedan are made at Lansing Grand River Assembly.

Lansing Grand River Assembly team members spent months preparing for the launch of the CTS Coupe to ensure the highest levels of quality, said Plant Manager Scott Whybrew. Lansing Grand River Assembly topped all U.S. plants in the 2010 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Survey. The CTS ranked among the top 10 of all vehicles in the quality survey.

While the CTS Coupe joined the existing CTS family, the Coupe’s dramatic design called for many unique parts and processes. The Coupe has a lower roofline, shorter overall length and wider track, providing a more aggressive stance and athletic profile. Lansing Grand River team members ensured the CTS Coupe had the same high standards as the other Cadillacs built at the plant, Whybrew said.

“We have very experienced assemblers at Lansing Grand River,” Whybrew said. “They work hard to make sure each vehicle meets the levels of quality and craftsmanship expected in a Cadillac. We want customers to feel as much pride in owning a Cadillac as we do in building them.”

The launch of the CTS Coupe has added excitement to Lansing Grand River Assembly, said Mike Green, president of UAW Local 652. The plant launched the first CTS almost 10 years ago. It expanded the CTS line to include the CTS Sport Wagon last year.

“It’s nice to add a product that gives consumers another choice, especially one such as the Coupe that’s been getting such rave reviews,” Green said. “The Lansing Grand River team members deserve a great deal of credit for making the Coupe a reality.”

The CTS Coupe won the Eyes on Design concept award at the 2008 North American International Auto Show. Autoblog described the production model as “audacity in motion.” Car and Driver wrote that the 2011 CTS Coupe added “more style and a higher concentration of performance to the CTS’s winning formula.”

2011 TranStar Racing Dagger GTIt's time to smile and have fun again! "Extreme" is back! The 2000 hp, 300 mph Dagger GT's design objectives are to be the best-looking, fastest Supercar in the world. This Supercar is being specially designed, very deliberately and explicitly, to break all world records and to bring back the most popular class of race car: the unlimited class which has been regulated, restricted and compromised into extinction. Join the rebellion as we break every rule there is, and break every world record for production Supercars. We will not quit until we achieve these goals:

-- Top horsepower/torque: 2000 hp/2000 ft lbs (given)
-- Top Speed: 300 mph, plus
-- Quarter mile: 200 mph and < 6.7 seconds
-- 0 to 60 mph: < 1.5 seconds
-- Lap records at: Nurburgring and Virginia International Raceway.

Each Dagger GT will be carefully hand-made by exceptional, enthusiastic craftsmen. Each car will be custom-made to the owner's preferences and desires. You can order: one of three (3) hard-core racing models; a street-legal comfortable-riding sport model, or a soft-riding, luxurious GT-X model that looks and feels like a million-dollar car, but runs like a bat-out-of-hell. We plan to deliver 5 production Daggers in 2011. Each Dagger will be 49-state street-legal if desired by the buyer.

The base MSRP of the Dagger GT-S or "Sport" model is $450,000 plus custom work, if requested. Deliveries are scheduled beginning in the first half of 2011. Production is very limited to maintain exceptional, over-the-top quality and fine craftsmanship. We have 2 more sales to go before we close out our 2011 production allotment of five (5) units. After the first five units are under contract, we will begin negotiating purchase orders for 10 units to be delivered in 2012.

The Dagger GT is based on an exceptional mid-engine concept car, the Corvette Cheetah, created by the brilliant industrial designer, Ivan Luccion. Our consulting lead designer is Phil Frank, designer of the world record-setting Saleen S7 Supercar which recently won the 24 hours of LeMans. Each Dagger GT is custom-made from 100% proven, guaranteed, off-the-shelf racing components and hand-built to the highest standards by experienced, exceptional supercar craftsmen. The car features an over-the-top big block, 2000 hp aluminum, twin turbo 572 multifuel racing engine, routinely built by Nelson Racing Engines. The engine is also "streetable." A custom TranStar/Mendeola 6-speed transaxle geared to 308 mph is also featured. The transaxle is designed to withstand the 2000 foot-pounds of torque delivered by the engine. The Dagger GT also features a high-strength 4130 Chromoly Steel chassis. A space-age carbon fiber body will be fabricated by the aerospace industry.

2010 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport

The new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport takes production sports cars to a whole new dimension

Wolfsburg/Molsheim, July 4, 2010 - on a beautiful sunny day at 25 degrees the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport achieved a new landspeed world record for production cars, on the proving grounds of the Volkswagen Group at Ehra-Lessien (nearby its headquarters at Wolfsburg). In the presence of the German Technical Inspection Agency (TÜV) and a representative of Guinness Book of Records the Super Sport achieved an average top speed of 431 km/h.

Saturday, 2 pm - Bugatti's Pilote Officiel Pierre Henri Raphanel puts his helmet and gloves on, pulls the safety belts tight whilst the engineers check the car a very last time: tyre pressure, temperature, all systems go. Then the orange black Super Sport crosses the light barrier, from now on the time will be taken, within one hour the car has to drive from South to North and then in the opposite direction. No one but the driver is allowed to touch the car during this time. The tension rises. A few minutes later we can hear from the left side the sound of a starting jumbo jet coming closer towards us. First we perceive the headlights of the Veyron, then we can recognize the shape of the car, a loud wooosh.... and Raphanel dashes in top speed past us. The GPS-tachometer stops at 427, 933 km/h. Now the same procedure from the opposite direction. This time the car reaches 434, 211 km/h. As average top speed the representatives of the "TÜV"and Guinness generate a value of 431, 072 km/h (268 mph). This even hit Bugatti's engineering team by surprise.

"We took it that we would reach an average value of 425 km/h," explains Bugatti's chief engineer Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, "but the conditions today were perfect and allowed even more."

The climax of the Veyron series: the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport

Had a model been especially popular or highly successful in races, Ettore Bugatti's customers often pushed the master to tease out of the engine a few horsepower more for their future car. Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. had been in a similar situation when their existing customers asked the companyto not only design their second model optically differently but to also create a version with a sportierand more extreme driving experience. The result is a car with a uniquely high performance of1,200-hp (882 kW) offering experienced drivers a whole new dimension of excitement, with a maximum torque of 1,500 Newton metres and a limited top speed of 415 km/h (to protect them tyres) but, the technique of the Super Sport is identical to the record car. The first five Super Sports to come off the production line will constitute a special series of their own, with the same configuration as the landspeed record car.

The Super Sport is a consequent of the further development of the classic exclusive 1,001-hp Bugatti Veyron 16.4, launched in 2005. This model offers a stunning set of specifications, such as the twin clutch gearbox with seven speeds, the extraordinarily precise driving performance in bends and excellent stability when braking and accelerating.

Continuous work in extreme performance ranges lead to constantly new conclusions, which enabled the engineers at Bugatti to develop the Veyron into a direction in which the driver can reach new dimensions. Every modification is designed to produce an even more powerful car for an agile ride. Four enlarged turbochargers and bigger intercoolers have been used to boost the power of the 16-cylinder engine, and the chassis has been extensively redesigned to maintain safety at extreme speed - thanks to slightly raised main-spring travel, stronger stabilisers, and new shock absorbers with a complex architecture originally developed for racing cars. This gives noticeably more precise control of the wheels and the car as a whole. With lateral acceleration of up to 1.4 G and improved interaction between the tyres and the intelligent all-wheel drive system, the Super Sport offers perfect handling and even more powerful acceleration of 1,500 Newton metres on corner exits.

The body has been fine-tuned to improve aerodynamic efficiency and maintain perfect balance in every situation, while the new fibre structure of the all-carbon monocoque ensures maximum torsion rigidity and passive safety - at reduced weight. The skin is made entirely of carbon-fibre composites, and the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport is available in 100 per-cent clear-lacquered exposed carbon on request.
